Sponsor a Child Campaign!
A
couple of years ago my wife, Gloria, and I (Bill Ramsey) had the privilege of
traveling with Compassion International to Bolivia, where we witnessed the
wonderful work being done there by Compassion. Their love for children is
clearly demonstrated through their comprehensive care and the excellence of
their
teaching programs. We were struck with the total, intense dedication of
their teaching personnel. They were so excited to explain their various teaching
methods, complete with student participation. We were "blown away" by what we
saw and heard. Time and space doesn't permit me to share all of the wonderful
experiences we had, but the most exciting experience for us was being able to
spend a day with a young girl that Gloria and I are sponsoring. Her name is
Melanie, pictured here to the right with one of her friends, and she's a little
doll. We got to meet her mother and we thanked her for allowing us the privilege
of helping to care for her daughter. We have two other children that we sponsor
through Compassion.
One
lives in Peru, and his name is Samuel. The other lives in Uganda and her name is
Gloria. We love them as if they are our own. We write back and forth, they
sometimes draw pictures and they share what's going on in their lives. Our
prayer is that we will be able to help in financing their college education.
We're also praying that we'll be able to attend at least one of the graduation
ceremonies for our sponsored children. Gloria and I are almost fanatical when it
comes to recommending Compassion International and sponsoring needy children.
The
picture above is the Compassion team, meeting for supper and to discuss the
day's events. What a total joy it is, and if you ever have the opportunity to
accompany Compassion on a trip to one of the many countries where they care for
children, we encourage you to jump at the chance! At the very least, you will
come home with a new appreciation of how blessed we are in this country.
